Corin Greybarrel, The Rogue

and a new arrival!
Eden Lennox, A Bard

Once again we left our hero’s in Ketka, where which they had recently saved the city from a war with the Gnolls from the forest to the south. And now Eden, A traveling bard, who is now playing in the main square of Ketka looking for tips.
Dividing into several groups the party split up in an attempt to find another job to do. Delidia, and Tanika proceeded to the university, Edward and Octavia went to the local temple, and Corin decided to stick around the square an enjoy the new music. As Eden played his music, Dan the barbarian, drunk as per the norm, stumbled towards him, and started hassling the bard. In response Eden began to improvise Dan into his songs, making demeaning and cruel statements about him as he sang. Enraged by the man’s music Dan shoved the bard, somehow causing him to swallow his own Ocarina. Coring stepped in at this point, helping Eden expel the instrument from his airway and send the enraged barbarian packing.
Deciding that Eden might want to join them on their adventures Corin invited the man along to join in their shenanigans.
Edward and Octavia were unable to obtain any useful information at the temple, but Tanika and Delidia were able to talk to a professor at the university. They were told about how there was an old Orc Barracks that might still be buried under the city, and how the old commander of the Orc ranks, had magical armor of some type. He offered several of the amulets in his collection if they could bring back a piece of the armor.
After some information collecting around town, they met up with one of the oldest residents, who was at the temple. He told the party of how strange noises came from the fountain in the square at night, but he could never tell how or why.
The following night the party went to investigate the fountain, which drains out at night. After some investigation, and some brute strength Edward proceeded to lift up a section of the stone base of the fountain that had sealed off a shaft downwards. Tying a rope around the fountain the party proceeded down into the dark.
Almost immediately upon landing the party was confronted with the undead remains of the Orc army. Several Orc Zombies and Troll skeletons began attacking the party. Without any significant trouble the party was able to re-dispatch the undead creatures.
Looking around the now unoccupied cavern Corin discovered that one of the walls was actually made of wood. Edward in his gusto smashed a hole in the wall through which they could enter the old abandoned barracks. Almost immediately upon entering Eden noticed large piles of rust on the ground, and as far as he knew, even if there was still armor down there, it shouldn’t have been completely rusted by now.
Cautiously proceeding into the barracks the party heard some noise coming from several rooms ahead. Proceeding into said room they found themselves watching two shield guardians fight against rust monsters, while the magic metal resisted the rust, the effects could still be seen slowly taking over the metal manikins. deciding to attempt to avoid the fight Tanika launched a flaming sphere as they passed but otherwise proceeded onwards. In the next room the party came accross a gigantic suit or armor, with the Igno of metal planted inside of it, though the armor had also started to rust after centuries underground. As the party approached the armor rumbled to life and began to assault the party. While everyone fought valiantly, Corin lost his life near the end of the battle, as the golem picked him up, and proceeded to smash him into the floor.
Luckily for Corin Octavia had obtained a scroll of resurrection a few days back, and was able to bring the little man back from the beyond. beaten and weak the party salvaged the golem’s armor and proceeded back towards the surface, unluckily for Edward, one of the rust monsters from before had survived, and surprise attacked the party, causing the piece of armor he was carrying to instantly disintegrate. Before the monster had another chance to destroy their reward, the party dispatched the creature.
Upon making it back to the surface, they delivered the helm of the armor to the university, getting several magical amulets as rewards, and the rest to the blacksmith, where they proceeded to request new armor be made for them.

Quest #4 The Gnoll's Task

Once again we join our hero’s

Octavia Sebastian, The Cleric
Edward Allengrove, The Paladin
Delidia Waynolt, The Sorcerer
Tanika Sokoll, The Druid
Corin Greybarrel, The Rogue

The morning after their fight with the wolves the parted happened across a group of 3 men. The were obviously cultists and they seemed rather disturbed. Approaching them Edward spoke with the odd men. After a bit of chatting he discovered that they had escaped from their insane leader who had forced them into the spider’s layer. The men then fled almost immediately a the mention that they might be dragged back to that location.
As the party continued deeper into the woods the trees began to change. Eventually it was visible that mats of fiber hung from the trees, almost as if someone had hung tattered clothing from the branches. Tanika recognized that this ‘cloth’ was actually thick pieces of spiders web.
Eventually the ground stated to get covered by the webs. Suddenly Corin jumped out of the way as the ground beneath the group collapsed into a pit. Several spiders jumped out of holes in the pit while larger spider descended from the trees in the area. As the battle raged both Corin and Delidia were poisoned by the spider’s venom. Eventually slaying the carapaced creatures Corin fell unconscious to the poison shortly there after. In a rush to heal his friend Edward attempted to heal Corin to no avail at first, but eventually brought his friend back.
They continued to the Cave’s entrance the group was immediately confronted with two giant spiders. Tanika then cast a spell in an attempt to communicate with the spiders, but they were too intent of ‘protecting the eggs’ to bother with reason. One of the Spider then went off to another chamber with the second charged at the party. Almost immediately Edward began attack the target with ranged assistance from Takina and Corin, as well as spells from Delidia and Octavia.
The spider then grabbed a hold of Edward and wrapped him in webbing, but only a moment before he fell to the rest of the group’s attacks.
Avoiding the chamber the second spider had fled too the party entered a cavern and almost immediately noticed the scorched walls. Upon further observation they noticed several burned corpses laying around, both spider and human, and a single lone man standing in the center of the room, holding the sun stone. After a moment of debating between themselves Edward charged at the man, only to pass through him as he disintegrated into a pile of ash.
After a few moments of confusion the pile of ash burst into flame to form a fire elemental, engulfing the stone inside. Again a battle raged the the party teamed together to take down the flaming planewalker. Eventually with scorched leather and smoking hair, the party managed to snuff the flame and retrieve the stone.
After several days journey to return to the Gnoll’s they were recieved with open arms. After returning the Gnoll’s sacred relic the group began to return to Ketka and rest in the Inn, only to stop as they passed a morbid scene. The Military barricade had been overrun by the gnolls while they where on their quest. Several of the local gnolls said they recieved orders to stop only just after the battle had been won.

Quest #3 Ketka at War

(sadly its been almost 2 weeks since this session so I do not remember the details of the battles)

Once again we join our hero’s

Octavia Sebastian, The Cleric
Edward Allengrove, The Paladin
Delidia Waynolt, The Sorcerer
Tanika Sokoll, The Druid
Corin Greybarrel, The Rogue

We left the party at the top of the lost tower in Rivanor wood. Just as they were about to leave a book caught Delidia’s eye. Poorly written and almost illegible, the book took her quite some time to make sense of. In the end she was able to discern several things from the notes. First is that there are nine magical items that have powers over thing. These stones could control, fire, water, earth, air, lightning, light, shadow, nature, and metal. And, that if these objects were brought together, they would cause a catastrophe across the land.
Descending back down the tower the party continued north towards the next town Ketka. As they neared the edge of the forest a patrol of gnolls passed near bye. As the party attempted to hide once again Delidia alerted the gnolls by tripping on an upturned root and fell. Thus the following battle ensued between 8 gnolls in the patrol and the party.
Eventually the party made it to Ketka, a large military outpost and trade center in the kingdom of Voth. The party then split up, Tanika and Delida went to the university in an attempt to expand her knowledge of potions, but since this city was a military one, there was no useful information. Edward, Octavia, and Corin, proceeded to the blacksmith, where they sold some of their loot and had their weapons sharpened.
After reconvening they proceeded to the temple, only after Edward purchased a flagon of ale at the Inn. The temple was of the same goddess of that in Therataru. While there they gathered some information from the local clerics and ascertained that the cult had been ousted from the city some time ago, most of the members fleeing into the forest. Shortly there after the Gnolls began attacking.
Assuming that the cult had caused the Gnoll’s aggression the Party then proceeded to the Barracks to hear from the military. While inside they were taken to the general of the batalion who didn’t know much more.
Soon after the party went to talk with the Gnolls. While on their way to the forest they came upon a military encampment, who requested their party’s help as mercenaries, which they declined. After venturing into the forest a ways the Group came upon another patrol of Gnolls. In an attempt to gain the Gnolls trust Edward offered the wiskey he had recently purchased, which the gnolls appreciated.
Leading the party back to their encampment the party entered a large clearing full of teepees. A few moments later they stood in front of a rather large gnoll, who immediately demanded their sun stone back. After a bit of discussion about who could have taken the object the party was tasked with retrieving it with the company of one of the gnoll’s best warriors.
Traveling for quite a few days the party was assulted by a pack of winter wolves one night, which posed a unique threat, but were dispatched of quickly.

Quest #2 Rivanor Wood

We join our hero’s Once again.

Octavia Sebastian, The Cleric
Edward Allengrove, The Paladin
Delidia Waynolt, The Sorcerer
Tanika Sokoll, The Druid (not with us this session)
Corin Greybarrel, The Rogue

After their run in with the cult our Hero’s decided that they would head north. Speaking with the Innkeeper in Therataru they found out that there was a city up to the north, several days travel on foot. Deciding not to loiter around Therataru the group hit the trail immediately.
Their first night on the road was anything but relaxing as they were assaulted by several highwaymen. During the ensuing skirmish Edward, in an attempt to push one of the men into the fire, tripped and fell in the flames himself. After our Paladin’s comical events, most of the assaulter were dispatched, while two managed to flee.
The next day the party continued Northwards and continued into Rivanor Wood. Stopping once in an attempt to find some herbs. Again, Edward in his wisdom decided to taste test a potion he had grabbed from one of the cultists. Resulting in his mouth melding shut, which was resolved with a little assistance from Corin’s daggers. While there were no other problems on the road our hero’s eventually spotted a large, iron clad tower off in the woods.
Deciding to investigate the tower the hero’s made their way off the road and into the trees. As they approached the tower Octavia spotted sever lights near the tower. As they got closer Delidia was able to identify them as will-o-wisps. After a few moment the Wisps moved on and the hero’s proceeded to enter the tower.
The hero’s entered the first floor of the tower to be greeted by a wave of head, as if stepping into a sauna. Most of the room was a steaming pond, being fed from a crack in one of the walls, and a path around the edge of it. In the center of the pond a white marble orb crested above the surface, but it was far out of reach. Using his prior experience with the potion in his possession Edward proceeded to seal the crack in the wall with the melding liquid. The water level soon fell as a significant portion of the water flowed out as the source had been cut off. Finally Octavia retrieved the orb with little effort using one of her spears.Using the orb as a magical device the party proceeded up the now vanished staircase to the second floor.
The second room of the tower was littered with bodies, it seemed to be an open room save for them. The far wall had an iron door as well as glowing words scrawled on the wall. Translating the writing as best he could Corin found that it was goblin and said something along the lines of ‘beware arcane’. As the party searched the room for whatever might let them proceed Corin found a silver key hidden on one of the bodies, and they proceeded to the next floor.
As the party entered the next floor they noticed it seemed to be compeltly empty. After a few moments pondering what the room could be Octavia noticed that they were all sinking into the floor. A moment later Delidia Noticed that there was a doorway a few feet under the semisolid translucent floor. As the hero’s sank into the Semi-solid ooze Edward and Delidia made their way to the door, while Corin and Octavia struggled to move at all. Gasping for air Edward finally managed to pull open the door and assist the rest into the air.
Up on the next floor of the tower the party was confronted with a peculiar fountain of red liquid. Upon investigation more goblin words were scrawled on the fountain that read ‘A lock of Liquid’. Managing to peer into the liquid Octavia was able to see a lever located at the bottom of the fountain. Delidia proceeded to freeze the liquid in the fountain, almost icing the entire fixture over, and Edward proceeded to smash his way down to the lever. As the lever flipped a door appeared to the next floor.
The fifth floor of the tower was open, on two opposite walls were markings, and a door accross from them. On one was the following marks. III I IV I V IX
and on the opposite wall there were shapes written on the wall. Square, Rhombus, Triangle, Pentagon, Circle, Heagon, Oval.
Also being stumped by this puzzle an amazing thing happened as Edward managed to come up with the answer, Converting the roman numerals to numbers, he surmised that it was indeed PI, After a moment he walked over to the circle on the wall and etched in the Radius, causing the door to open.
Now at the Sixth floor of the tower the party was greeted by two will-o-wisps in what appeared to be a study. Attempting to approach the Wisps only caused the balls of light to flee out the window with extreme gusto. Moments later, two of the suits of armor spun to life, as if the air inside them was alive. These, armored air elementals proceeded to screech at the party and Octavia charged in to respond. The insuing battle dragged on as the Party had a hard time hitting the floating armor. Eventually they managed to fell the two and loot the room of its magical items.

Quest #1, Deception in Therataru
The Mischivous Theodore Whal

This is the start of our adventure
Our heroes
Octavia Sebastian : A Cleric
Edward Allengrove : A Paladin
Delidia Waynolt : A Sorcerer
Tanika Sokoll : A Druid
Corin Greybarrel : A Rogue

The party arrived in the port town of Therataru, a good sized town in the land of Voth. The Town is a bustling with commerce traffic from day to day.
Our Heroes Start their journeys by splitting up. Edward, Tanika, and Octavia, first go to the graveyard, where upon they meet an oddly Irish Cleric. After their conversation with the holy man they wait outside the town Inn for the other two members.
Delidia starts her journey by visiting the town potion shop with Corin in tow. Upon talking with the Shopkeeper she proceeds to the next shop, a farming store, where in which she trys to buy several herbs, but the shopkeeper takes a disliking to her and attempts to charge a high price, which she is unwilling to pay. After harassing the storekeeper with her pet bat, Betty, the man yells at the two to get out of the shop, which they do.

Upon reconnecting with the group they proceeded into the Inn in search of local news. The bartender was friendly enough and proceeded to tell the group about a supposed summoning that was going to be taking place. Almost immediately after their conversation a man, Dan the Barbarian, start to pick a fight with Edward. A fight brakes out between the party and Dan and is silenced just as quickly as Delidia charms the man into calming down.

As the party leaves the bar another man, Theodore Whal, Runs to catch up with them. Feeding them misinformation about the summoning they had just heard about, That the nobles were behind it and attempting to summon a gargoyle. he convinces the group to break into the nobles manor and steal his potion back. Providing the heroes with a grappling hook which Corin proceeds to hold. Suggesting that the Party waits for Nightfall they decide to visit the local temple.

As they enter the temple Edward is unable to recognize the god’s symbol on the door, but they quickly learn that it is the temple of Rivanin, a local lawful good god of Voth, who teaches kindness to companions and is said to smite though travelers who do misdeeds to others. Edward receives the priests blessing and donates some of his gold to the church as well as Tanika.

As they exit the temple the sun has nearly set and they begin to scale the walls of the mannor.
The ledge that the manor sits on proves difficult for both Edward and Tanika but they, with the help of a rope from Octavia, make it up the ledge. They then proceed to scale the wall with little trouble, but as they drop down the other side, Delidia accidentally dropped her staff, which clatters to the ground. The nearest group of guards is alerted to the noise and attempts to find the part, but they are able to run away in the darkness, that is, until Delidia fumbles her staff again.
Now several groups of patrolling guards are alerted to the presence of the party as well, as they try to flee into the nearest building. Corin attempted to pick the lock to the door as the guards close in, only to have the door kicked in by an impatient Edward. Storming into the empty house the party readied themselves to fight the guards that were fast approaching.
Having prepared themselves the group manages to fell the first two guards before they can even act. One of which had a blow horn to alert other guards if needed. During this initial fight three guards are incapacitated by Edward, Tanika, and Octavia. Who knock one out, bisect, and charge to crush the skull of the guards respectively.
Surrounding Octavia who just ran out to do away with one of the guards, they proceed to attack her. While one blow connects, a misstep by one of the guards causes himself damage. The rest of the party proceeds to rush out and assist their friend, felling the remaining three guards.
The party proceeds to look through the contents of the unoccupied building, finding two sets of the nobles clothing, one male and one female.
After debating who gets what the party moves on to the next building, in which Corin successfully picks the lock. Upon entering the door to the new building, Tanika, Delidia, and Octavia all notice a passage located behind a bookcase, all the while Corin was admiring the woodwork of the door he just opened.
Descending into the basement of the building Delidia notices a guard in the room across from them and Corin proceeds to take the opportunity to sneak up and dispatch the unsuspecting guard. The rest of the party proceeds to move out into the main room and a battle with the remaining three guards commences. As they battle both Tanika and Edward take several hits and Octavia heals them accordingly.
After the battle is won the characters retrieve the purple vial from a holding pedestal in the larger room. Delidia, an alchemist and herbalist, recognizes the type of liquid as blood, but can’t specifically identify it, though they assume it is the blood of a gargoyle from Theodore’s information.
As they proceed to exit the manor a group from the temple arrives, immediately accusing the party of thievery, assault, and murder of the potion and guards respectively. In an attempt to avoid a battle Edward Convinces the Church Paladins to hear them out instead of passing judgment immediately. Agreeing with their fellow paladin the church paladins proceed to handcuff the part and walk them towards the church.
As the group walks across town they are assaulted by a large group of cultists. While the church group is able to fell many of the cultists they are eventually overwhelmed and brought down. The cultists then knocked each of the part members out and drug them into a nearby building.
In the morning the cultists woke up our heroes, who were now blinded as their heads were covered by leather bags.
The cultists proceeded to march the heroes out of town and up a hill, they marches for several hours, both Corin and Tanika stumbling several times along the way as their endurance wavered.
Uppon reaching their destination the hoods were taken off and then were immediately pushed into a pit, but not before Octavia noticed that they were on top of one of the mountains in the area.
While in the pit the party struggled out of their manacles, Corin, Octavia, and Edward succeeding rather quickly. As they sat in the pit the cultists finished their summoning ritual and a Fleshy gargoyle took flight. As the gargoyle approached the three that had managed to escape their bonds began to assault the flying beast with whatever they could. With an incredible throw Octavia managed to injure the eye of the beast with one of her javelin as both Corin and Edward hit its body with arrows. As the beast landed Delidia and Tanika freed themselves from their bonds and the gargoyle proceeded to attack Octavia for the severe injury she just caused him. As the battle raged Octavia was repeatedly attacked as the party attempted to bring down the beast. Summoning her pet, Tanika’s riding dog proceeded to bite the gargoyle only to be thrown across the pit moments later. In a last effort to bring the beast down Delidia froze the beast with her ray of frost as the finishing blow.
Outraged by the defeat of their beast the cultists raided the pit, most making it down successfully except for one who fell to his death. Among those now in the pit was Theodore who proceeded to enlarge one of his fellow cultists. As the battle raged the party slew the cultists, charmed the larger one, and ended Theodore, but not without taking damage themselves.
Before his end Delidia managed to extract information out of Theodore, who told them that this was only a small extension of the cult.
